Burger Production

Beef burgers for a leading fast food chain are manufactured in a state-of-the-art plant capable of producing 700 tonnes of hamburgers per week.
On arrival, each delivery is subjected to a comprehensive quality inspection programme.

Burger Blending

The production process is computer controlled to ensure the final product meets the fat specification.
Chilled and frozen raw materials are ground through the initial grinding plates and are then mixed together in the pre-blenders.

Burger Forming and Checking

Burger-forming machines use high pressure to form the burgers onto a conveyor belt. Burger size, shape, score depth and weight are all monitored at this stage.

Burger Freezing

The formed burgers emerge from the freezing tunnels fully frozen at approximately -20° Celsius. The burgers remain frozen throughout storage and distribution until cooked in the one of the fast food outlets.

Burger Packing and Storage

The frozen burgers are packed into cartons. Every carton has the production code and best before date printed on it and the cartons pass over a checkweigher to ensure they are filled with the required weight.

Burger Quality

It is essential that the burgers always meet the required food safety and quality criteria. In the UK, that means achieving an internal cook temperature equivalent to at least 70° Celsius for 2 minutes.
